 On Android Phones, What Are the Steps to Activate Jio 5g?

Jio True 5G is right now not accessible to everyone. It is now open only on an invitation basis, and only those who have accepted invitations can use Jio’s 5G services.   •     Here, open “Phone Info” and tap on the cascading menu under “Set Preferred Network  Type”. Choose “NR only” or “NR/ LTE”; this way, you can operate 4G in areas where 5G service is not yet accessible.  “NR Only” is only for inspection purposes and to check if your phone can take advantage of Jio 5G network. Later, you can change it to “NR/ LTE” if the VoNR (Voice over New Radio) service of Jio 5G is not working well.

  

On iPhones, What Are the Steps to Activate Jio 5g?

Users of iPhones in India will not be able to use Jio’s 5G network for now. Apple is now releasing an update that will make the iPhones friendly with Jio’s 5G network and any 5G network in India. After the update is set to roll out, you can be able to activate and take advantage of Jio True 5G on iPhones using the following steps:

  •         On iPhone, open the Settings app.
  •         Then, go to the Cellular menu within Settings.
  •         Tap on the Cellular Data Option from here.
  •         To enable 5G, click the Voice & Data option and select between 5G Auto or 5G On Options.
  •         If your iPhone can access a 5G network when available, you’ll see a 5G symbol in the status bar indicating that 5G services are enabled.

 

How to check if your smartphone is 5G ready or not?

Check your smartphone’s retail box or packaging for any 5G text. To be two times sure, please try Google for the same. If your smartphone supports 5G, check whether the bands mentioned in the box are supported by Jio’s 5G bands in your city/circle.

How To Locate Jio 5G Towers Near Your Position?

If you stay in one of the functional regions, by following these steps, you can easily find the exact location of the Jio 5G towers and the area it covers.

  • install Speed test by Ookla to your phone. Open the app, allow the required permissions, and go to the “Maps” section.
  • Now, you can use the app to find Jio 5G towers in India which are labelled in blue colour. You can zoom out and zoom in to find detailed coverage details to go to another location. Also, you can swipe and check the coverage of 5G towers for other operators.

Jio has claimed that the Jio True 5G services will be accessible to everyone in India by December-end 2023. As the telco has already started a beta rollout in a few cities, it is expected that Jio 5G to reach more metro cities in the next few weeks.
