How to Downgrade iOS 14 Beta to iOS 13 Without Losing Data

How to Downgrade iOS 14 Beta to iOS 13 (Without Losing Data)

iOS 14 beta 1 was released a couple of days back in the WWDC 2020. So far it looks good with all the new features including widgets etc., But for a reason if you want to go back to the iOS 13.5.1 than Follow the below steps.

Things You Should Know Before Downgrading

  • You can downgrade your iPhone to iOS 13.6 since that’s the release of the OS which Apple is currently signing.
  • It is only possible to restore iOS 13 backups on your iPhone after you downgrade it back to iOS 13.6. You cannot restore an iOS 14 backup on your iPhone.
  • Irrespective of which method you follow below, it is always recommended that you create a backup of all your important files and documents on the device.

1st Method

  1. Download the iOS 13.5.1 Firmware from here >> www.ipsw.me
  2. Once Done, Open iTunes in Windows and Connect your iPhone to the computer. For Mac look for the iPhone in Finder
  3. Take the Local iTunes backup first so that in case if anything goes wrong you can always restore back your data in the iOS 14 beta version.
  4. On the Summary page press and hold the Shift key in windows and option in Mac and Click Update.
  5. Select the IPSW file which you have downloaded in Step 1.
  6. It will ask you to confirm update to the iOS 13.5.1.
  7. iTunes will verify and extract the firmware and Start the Downgrading process. The whole process will take approx. 10-15 minutes.
  8. Enjoy you are back to iOS 13.5.1

Press and release the volume up button. Press and release the volume down button. Press and hold the side button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.

2nd Method

  1. Turn off Find my iPhone via the Settings app (Settings > iCloud > Find my iPhone).
  2. Download the iOS 13.6 firmware file for your device from our iOS firmware file download page for your iPhone.

Note: If you’re downloading the firmware file using Safari then ensure that auto unzip feature is disabled or use Chrome or Firefox. Alternatively, renaming the .zip file as .ipsw file should also work.

Step 1: Connect the iOS device running iOS 14 beta to your computer.

Step 2: Launch iTunes and select the iOS device from the top left corner.

Step 3: Then click on Summary in the left-hand sidebar.

Step 4: Hold the Alt/Option key on the Mac or Shift Key in Windows on your keyboard and click on the Check for Update option, instead of restoring.

Step 5: From the window that pops up, select the iOS 13.6 IPSW firmware file you had downloaded earlier.

Step 6: iTunes will inform you that it will update the device to iOS 13.6 and verify the update with Apple. Click Update.

iTunes should now downgrade your iPhone to iOS 13.6 from iOS 14 beta.
