On Friday, Apple announced that it was launching a new Replacement Program for affected iPhone 11 units. iPhone 11 units produced between September 2019 and May 2020 are eligible for this issue, which will address touch screen issues that were troubling iPhone 11 owners. As per the users due to this display defect, the screen has stopped responding to touch. However, the company has acknowledged the issue and launched a global replacement program for all the users who are facing issues with their iPhone 11 units. This program will allow users to replace their defective iPhone 11’s display.
Apple on its support page said that the issue is with the display module of the iPhone 11. Apple launched the iPhone 11 last year along with the iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max. The iPhone 11 has a 6.1-inch Liquid Retina HD display. It’s been over a year since this iPhone made its debut. Apple’s replacement program covers iPhone 11 units manufactured from November 2019 onwards which is hardly two months after it launched.
Apple’s display replacement program is valid for 2 years after the first retail sale of the device. According to Apple, no other iPhone models are part of this free replacement program. Presumably, the hardware fault seems to have just affected iPhone 11 models. If your iPhone 11 has been exhibiting this issue, please use the serial number checker to see if your device is eligible for this program. If so, Apple or an Apple Authorised Service Provider will provide service, free of charge,” the tech giant said.
Do note that this program covers affected iPhone 11 models for 2 years after the first sale of the device. The iPhone 11 units that are not manufactured between November 2019 and May 2020 are not eligible for this program.
Steps to check eligibility
- First, head to the dedicated support page of the iPhone 11 Display Module Replacement Program
- Select your country from the list
- Now, you need to enter the serial number of your iPhone 11
- To find your serial number, head to Settings > General > About.
- Click on the Submit button
According to Apple, users can contact Apple for a refund if they have already paid Apple or its service providers issues about the touch screen in the iPhone 11. The repair program is worldwide. However, Apple notes that it may restrict or limit repair to the original country or region of purchase. Further, the repair program does not extend the standard warranty coverage of the iPhone 11.
